Dental lasers are used for a variety of treatment procedures in our office. We use a diode soft tissue laser at North Shore Dental, LLC. Diode lasers can be used for crown lengthening procedures in cosmetic dentistry, for frenectomies, and for periodontal therapy. Use of a diode laser during routine dental cleanings can even help reduce the amount and type of bacteria that causes gum disease. When used for periodontal therapy, the diode laser can have a bactericidal effect on periodontal pockets, which can minimize any bleeding and swelling following periodontal therapy. We have had great success in significantly decreasing, and in some instances eliminating, cold sensitivity of teeth due to exposed root surfaces or recession.
